Who we are
This website is operated by SwartBerg Studio (Pty) Ltd (“SwartBerg Studio”, “we”, “us”), a company based in South Africa. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here. Our information officer is Riaan Swart, Founder & Director.
What we collect
Browsing this website does not require you to give us any personal information. The site itself sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising trackers, and loads no third-party fonts. The only third-party script is on the contact page, described below.
If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, optional company name, topic and message you enter. Our hosting provider also processes standard technical data, such as your IP address, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
Keeping the contact form free of spam
The contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated spam. To do this Cloudflare processes technical signals from your browser, such as your IP address and browser details, under its Turnstile privacy addendum. Cloudflare acts as an operator on our behalf for this purpose.
To limit how many messages can be sent, we also keep a one-way keyed hash of your IP address (not the address itself) and a count of messages sent, for no longer than two days, in Microsoft Azure storage.
Why we use it
We use what you send through the contact form only to read and reply to your enquiry, and to keep a record of our correspondence with you. We do not sell it, rent it out or use it for marketing without asking you first.
How it is handled
Contact form messages are processed by a small function hosted on Microsoft Azure and delivered to our mailbox by email. The messages themselves are not stored on this website. Microsoft, Cloudflare and our email provider act as operators on our behalf and are bound by their own security and data protection commitments. Because these services may process information outside South Africa, we rely on them providing protection comparable to POPIA.
How long we keep it
We keep correspondence for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and any relationship that follows from it, and then delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us to:
- confirm whether we hold personal information about you, and give you a copy of it;
- correct or delete personal information that is inaccurate, out of date or no longer needed;
- stop processing your personal information, or object to it.
Email info@swartbergstudio.com or use the contact form to make a request. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
Changes to this notice
If how we handle personal information changes, we will update this page and the date above.
